The Mind, Spyware, and Audiophilia

I don’t know how many of you are aware of the sophistication of spyware that is being developed these days, but spyware works a lot like the human mind. When we try to “unload” something from our minds because we see the destructiveness that is generated, in terms of our behavioral patterns, our ego finds a new way to “reload” our minds with these destructive patterns that have become ingrained in each of us since childhood.

Well, all you computer users out there, spyware can do the same thing. There is spyware today that is sophisticated enough to “regenerate” itself if you try to delete it from your computer and it is “intelligent” enough to mask itself from detection from spyware removal software and some even sophisticated enough to terminate a spyware program even upon “detection” and any attempt to “fix” the spyware problem.

Maybe we can extrapolate this to understand the plight of audiophiles also. They have been unwittingly ingrained with certain behavioral patterns which keep resurfacing no matter how hard the individual tries to “shake off” the behavior or path they are on which only leads to bad sound.

Because spyware works like the mind, this does not come as a surprise because spyware is created by humans who can only “imagine” things within their own personal experience. And what could be more personal than emulating one’s own mind. Hence, spyware was born. However, just like we can eliminate spyware from our computers by learning how it works, it is so important to understand the human mind and how it works to benefit each of us who enjoy the hobby of listening to music. As Plato said, “Know thyself” because to know thyself is to know all that is worthy of knowing and all that can really be known. Anyone who thinks of themselves as knowledgeable is really totally unknowledgeable. Only through knowing oneself can one come to this realization.

TuneLand is about tuning and it is also about finding out who we really are. If you notice, those who start to understand themselves more deeply move along much quicker in their tuning skills than those who don’t. Think about this. It’s really “deep”, as well as being true. Idea
