  Thanks Michael, well, this is a first for me and I'm sure will be informative and fun! Hi everyone! The system I now have consists of a peachtree grand integrated amp x-1 and marantz sa 8004 sacd player also the b&w pm-1 mini monitors. I did choose this system by ear and not by the info that was given me at the time of my purchase. my previous system consisted of old school separates. and a dedicated listening room. I moved to a studio apt and I really had to down size from arc monoblocks and fullrange speakers and an arc cd3mk2 player. to my zen system. (which I now absolutely love) being used to my original system I thought I would never have a great sounding system again. I was so wrong! my system looks so modest. I have gone from the usual in front of you wide soundstage (previous system) to actually being there with an immense sound stage. Thanks to Michaels tunepak and tuneland. My zen system betters my previous system by far. I have been looking at all your systems and I wish I could hear them!! like all of you I want to eventually get the best out of my equipment and room. I do play guitar mostly jazz but I love all genre of music.  and I do think if you play an instrument you listen in a different way. I am really looking forward to the future. I hope you all enjoy seeing my little zen paradise. Happy Listening     Ron

Hi Coop , yea! I think it's gonna be a great time. Michael said he wanted to record your playing. sounds like a good idea. still struggling on the posts thing and when I have replys do I just go to my post and read them there? and then I reply with the quote button right? I read rotelguys post and I agree with him I had the same experience with my room . this is unbelieveable. already having fun trying to learn this post thing and having rotelguy welcome me and you coop awesome!! HI Sonic, it's great to be here.thanks for the welcome! I was going through posts today and I ran across pictures of your room! amazing!! I did a few things with the placement of my speakers and small rack today. thanks to the pictures and what I was reading on tuneland. I pulled the rack out from the front wall about 20" and pulled my speakers farther out into the room and spaced them wider apart. I think I might have pulled them out to far at first. the sound was a little flat? and non engaging. I don't know if this was caused by no left wall . I'll have to ask Michael about this , I would like to learn how to treat that area. I sure have a long way to go but what an adventure!! anyway, then I moved them back about half a foot and a little closer. and I swear I heard the sound open up and I heard more focus and detail in a very natural way. I heard the sound of the drumsticks hitting the skins and the upright bass was playing a solo and I heard the strings slapping the fingerboard of the upright bass. to me the sound seemed to free up. I heard this with just the moving my system . and I thought of how advanced your room is and what it must sound like. with all those treatments how in the world do you know how to control all those sound pressure zones? What I did was so minimal and I heard results. unless it's just my imagination wanting to hear those changes! well, thanks again for your welcome and really looking forward to making tuning progress. I enjoy being a part of the vibe when I can. It's like having many systems all over the world to me. The more you guys talk about your systems & sound the easier it is for me to place myself in your spaces, something I have always found fun.

Every place I have ever lived (actually enjoy moving to new spaces) the environment ends up becoming all about the spirit of sound. Every room in time is turned into an audio system. It's like living in a Vibe lab. Your place said Zen within the first couple of pics.

Sonic's room and system looks better than it sounds due to the hard surfaces typical of dwellings in my part of the world. However with Michael's guidance the sound I am getting is enjoyable enough.

You ask how Sonic tunes those pressure zones? I don't know, I am still learning but this is similar to when I learnt to play a fretless stringed instrument and I first balked "what no frets, no markings?" How will I know where the notes are and how do I stay in pitch? This vexed Sonic but as I learned, practiced and practiced and practiced and performed, a day came when those questions were longer asked by me. Then the band leader called out "B-flat", my hand moved without need for thought or even a look yet the note that sounded was spot on. You'll get there too!

Hi Sonic and Rotelguy, I agree with you rotelguy, just looking at Sonics room I would think their would be great sound in that room. Sonic you play a fretless stringed instrument. amazing. I was going to go with a fretless guitar and I thought the same way. I didn't even try, I went with a guitar without any fret markers (after playing for years with fret markers) which I thought would be a challenge and after a couple of weeks I didn't even think about it and I was playing with no problem. I spend a lot of time on tuneland now. trying to tune, learn and understand with the tools I have and I have heard great results. like you rotelguy my system and soundstage really opened up. michael what a great way to live, in the spirit of sound and a vibe lab. I am having major problems with my computer right now so if I vanish for a while I will back. when the problem can be resolved. thanks for all the info from you and the tunees. already my sound has a major improvement.

Thanks Ron and Rotelguy for the nice comments -- perhaps the sound is good. It probably is given the sort of equipment that is being used. By contrast I know people with systems whose preamp costs the same as a middle-market small house in the USA! Yet thanks to Michael and the comradeship of Tunees like you, Sonic has managed to bend the sound of this "concrete bunker" as one Tunee fairly described my room. So I must be grateful. Sonic is now playing Pictures at an Exhibition -- we are at The Great Gates of Kiev -- rather loudly now and I am enjoying every moment of this this

Of course one part of Sonic thinking benchmarks the sound of my set up to the descriptions that I hear from Zonees who had the privilege to hear Michael's systems for themselves. If I take the descriptions literally, Rotelguy and all you have heard something that exists in a parallel universe/in the dreams of conventional audiophiles:!: By those measures, then Sonic's room and system is not far off from the start line.

Sonic used to play the fretless bass and got reasonable at it once.

If I were to attempt an analogy of how we sense the tune it is this: maybe there is less magicks than there appears to be. It is all about have a library of cause and effect in your head from tuning and adjusting things in your room. For instant, you have discovered what your speakers too close to the walls sound like. That is one for your library. Sonic's rooms is different, in some ways the opposite. From tuning I know what different materials on the transformers do, what a change of Shutter angle does, what various cones and springs do etc. So if I wanted to increase warmth or cut it for example, there are some tune actions past that did this that I can apply. Perhaps earlier they weren't applied but these experiences can give us the options to adjust the sound in the future.

Wanted to stop by and see how the computer is working out.

Mine is about to be replaced and this last month I felt like I was tuning blind as well as missing out on some of the tuning adventures.

Hi Michael, sonic and rotelguy! so glad to hear from you,sorry to hear about your computer I can relate. I know what you mean, I think mine needs replacing too. It's working than it's not! just had a car breakdown on top of it. I e-mailed coop about what I was experimenting with for the sound. I have been reading on tuneland a lot. I did some experimenting after reading a lot of your advice I did take the legs off my cd player and set the frame on mdf wood, loosened the screws and also lifted my integrated off the legs and that is also on mdf I read about the carpet connection between the floor and speakers so I found two pieces of wood about 1/4 " thick and longer than the speaker base and took off the spikes from the speakers the speaker stands are made of wood, and placed the speakers on them, I moved the speakers to nearfield like I saw in a lot of the pictures the results I did get were amazing even though I was using mdf.the sound became like surround sound there were no room borders and a very very life like soundstage and very warm and pleasing while still being lifelike the voices were like having the singer in the room with the very real warm tone of an actual singer in the room! the jazz guitar seemed like I could hear the depth of the actual big box jazz guitar body, the strings were very lifelike and I could hear like an actual guitar string being played, the soundstage was also the real width and depth, I also sat where my table is at the other end of the room where the entrance is and was playing some classical piano and it seemed there was a live piano in the middle of the room in front of the patio doors. the speakers were facing 90 degrees away from where I was listening they were in the cove area. the bottom end is a little on some and a lot on other tracks boomy. but otherwise this is unbeliveable, I also changed my vandersteen speakers which were standing vertical and put them on the floor in front of the tv to a horizontal position like the worlds biggest soundbar and I leveled everything in the room to no higher than a foot in height and got rid of all cluter in the corners of the room thinking soundwave wise the wave would flow freely with little obstructiion, now I can clearly hear music even in the galley kitchen no where near the speakers! wow! wow! I have seen all the platforms and tuning boards clamps you have made and wonder how much more can I hear!! I do definetely need your expertise to go further! since my equipment is so costly I sometimes wonder if I should sell it and buy what you suggest . I am more than a little cautious about taking the insides out of a cd player or amp for fear of being fried, so that about covers what I have been doing and I want to thank you and all on tuneland for the support and friendly encouragement that you have given me, I am never going back to the small confined unnatural sound of the supposed high end equipment! am I on the right track? It would be a blast to see you convert your system.

Last night I was playing with a new Sherwood 4105, breaking it in slowly. It just got to the place where I was ready to lift the transformer and take off the back panel. Now this is the 7th or so 4105 I've done personally, and just like the others, I sat there after making this change and was shaking my head at how excellent this amplifier is once stripped and mated with the Maggie and free resonant speakers. Of course there are many units that might be just as good once tuned, but it makes me smile at the simplicity and quality of sound. And maybe most important for me, the flexibility.

Any way you go it's going to continue to be fun for me to be a part of the System of Zen.
