There's almost a moral uprising among the HEA audiophiles when you mention the word "variable". Yet that's exactly what audio is. Nothing in audio is without motion and with motion comes a variable continuum. You would never know this talking to a Stereophile/TAS-ed devotee. Well shoot TAS stands for "The Absolute Sound" and some take that as there is one fixed sound, despite science and physics. When High End Audio spun off on it's own quest for discrete purity it created an isolated island, alienating itself from the rest of the music industry. This move caused a split between the Audiophile and the HEA Audiophile. The word "equalize" for example became demonized, even though recording and playback is by design equalization. Reviewing and marketing peer pressure pushed HEA into a panic-ed guilt trip eliminating EQs, tone controls and even balance controls. Along with this came overbuilt, overpriced works of art that played back only one sound. This madness by default created a new HEA term "Plug & Play". Plug & Play is the hobby of mixing and matching of componentry coming up with a particular "fixed" sound. If you play a recording suitable to this sound everything is wonderful. But, play a recording out of tune with the system's settings and the results are less than desirable. The HEA industry used this as a selling up marketing ploy, creating classes of equipment based on sonic merit, price and newness, sonic merit getting the short end of the stick. Today's experienced listener is taking a closer look at HEA's departure from common sense, even though the pressures (not as strong as before) are still there. The internet deserves the credit for opening up the knowledge of recording and playback, and how the four (instruments, artist, recording and playback) all fit under the same umbrella harmoniously.  

Who's to blame, is probably not as important as the need for a hobby to get back to being able to play their whole music collection at a higher level, which is what High End Audio was attempting at first. I myself had 5 HEA stores trying to find the absolute sound from one system, so I was in the mix as much as anyone. Having 10 or so different rooms has a way of teaching the lesson that "everything affects everything else" and for me was my guide. Like many I got caught up in the flash of the expensive toys, but almost always found myself deciding on the basic model of most of the designers. That, I think, was my first clue to the learning curve of matching recording to playback system (HEA system). My second clue was the most obvious and probably the hardest to teach someone else. I learned this one way back in the 70's but somehow left it on the bench, expecting that designers knew their business. The audio signal is incredibly variable and being at the lower end of the cycles scale highly adjustable (Tunable). How HEA missed this concept is a mystery that will haunt many wallets and be dismissed by many egos, but the open door has always been there and we have only ourselves to blame if we can't make the simplest of connections between the recording and the playback system. "they are meant to be tuned together" When it comes to frequencies going as low as 16hz, with a planet at 3hz, it's a little silly to not let electronic parts mingle with the fundamental forces. In other words, why are we trying to shield a signal that performs better when blended into the environment? Designers putting electronic components into a metal box really makes no physical sense at all. Why fight against the very forces your wanting to ultimately mingle with? Built like a tank is great when your building a tank, but an audio component isn't related to a tank in function or build. An audio component is related to a musical instrument and should be built like a musical instrument. A musical instrument is based on a signal pathway just like an audio component is.

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time. In general definitions of music will include common elements such as pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. Audio is sound within the acoustical and mechanical range available to humans. An audio frequency is an electrical alternating current within the 16 to 26,000 hertz (cycles per second) range that can be used to produce acoustic sound. The audio trilogy consist of 3 main ingredients "Acoustical, Electrical and Mechanical".

Audio is influenced by the "Fundamental Forces" of nature. In other words the four forces that act between bodies of matter and that are mediated by one or more particles. In order of decreasing strength, the four fundamental forces are the strong force, the electromagnetic force, the weak force, and gravity. Fundamental forces is also known as fundamental interaction. In physics terms, any of the four basic forces (gravitational, electromagnetic, strong, and weak) govern how objects or particles interact and how certain particles decay. All the known forces of nature can be traced to these fundamental interactions.

Fundamental interactions, also known as fundamental forces, are the interactions in physical systems that do not appear to be reducible to more basic interactions. There are four conventionally accepted fundamental interactions—gravitational, electromagnetic, strong nuclear, and weak nuclear. Each one is understood as the dynamics of a field. The basis of electronics is the electronic signal, an electric current that represents information.

Electronics is the science of how to control electric energy, energy in which the electrons have a fundamental role. Electronics deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, and associated passive electrical components and interconnection technologies. Everything within our Earth's environmental structure works as an energy continuum. The environment is always in an interactive mode, ever reacting and interchanging with the forces. It's a system of infinite motion, always involved in the action of fine tuning itself.

Earth's magnetic field, also known as the geomagnetic field, is the magnetic field that extends from the Earth's interior out into space, where it meets the solar wind, a stream of charged particles emanating from the Sun. Its magnitude at the Earth's surface ranges from 25 to 65 microteslas (0.25 to 0.65 gauss). Approximately, it is the field of a magnetic dipole currently tilted at an angle of about 11 degrees with respect to Earth's rotational axis, as if there were a bar magnet placed at that angle at the center of the Earth. The North geomagnetic pole, located near Greenland in the northern hemisphere, is actually the south pole of the Earth's magnetic field, and the South geomagnetic pole is the north pole. The magnetic field is generated by electric currents due to the motion of convection currents of molten iron in the Earth's outer core driven by heat escaping from the core, a natural process called a geodynamo.

While the North and South magnetic poles are usually located near the geographic poles, they can wander widely over geological time scales, but sufficiently slowly for ordinary compasses to remain useful for navigation. However, at irregular intervals averaging several hundred thousand years, the Earth's field reverses and the North and South Magnetic Poles relatively abruptly switch places. These reversals of the geomagnetic poles leave a record in rocks that are of value to paleomagnetists in calculating geomagnetic fields in the past. Such information in turn is helpful in studying the motions of continents and ocean floors in the process of plate tectonics.

The magnetosphere is the region above the ionosphere that is defined by the extent of the Earth's magnetic field in space. It extends several tens of thousands of kilometers into space, protecting the Earth from the charged particles of the solar wind and cosmic rays that would otherwise strip away the upper atmosphere, including the ozone layer that protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Any electric passing mechanical conduit, such as the parts in audio amplifier, is a part of this huge electromagnetic space (field). The Fundamental Interaction is inevitable. And, any energy such as electricity that is part of the environment has a dissipation rate. The dissipation rate of the electronic audio signal works similar to the dissipation rate of a musical instrument playing in a room.
