| Dear Michael,
I would like to ask your opinion about the placement of anti-vibration cones under a Blu-ray player.
Under my old Oppo 105 player I had x3 cones in an equal triangle shape and this produced great results (much clearer picture). The base of the 105 was really solid.
With the more recent 4K Oppo 205 player however, placement is less straight forward.
The bottom grille of the 205 has some sections which are less solid than others. For example if I press firmly on the bottom of the player, some areas can give in a bit compared to other spots which are more firm.
I guess my questions are;
* Does it matter if I place the cones on areas that are not solid? (have some space above them or breathing grilles ect).
* Could placing 2 cones at the front and 1 at the back reduce vibrations better than having 1 at the front and 2 at the back?
* How about the size of the triangle shape? (smaller versus larger).
* Can the amount of vibration reduction change depending on which way up/down the cones are facing? (spikes side up or down ect)
Thanks in advance,
Chris | |

| Chris sent me "Hi Michael, i'm sorry but I don't have any pics of the Oppo 105. I now have the Oppo 205 which is a superior unit, just not sure where the optimal areas are to place the new cones. We can still apply cones here, but i'm not quite sure about the ideal placement for this unit. The four rubber feet shown in the picture I sent you are the standard feet of the 205 unit. With the 105 I just left the old feet on, and placed cones in a triangle shape. The length of the cones were long enough that the x4 stock feet were suspended in air and left out of the equation, if that makes sense." If leaving the feet on, here's where I would start. point down However I would remove the stock feet. | |
