Welcome to Tholt
I had the pleasure of talking to Tholt on the phone and after we discussed some of the traits of his system I asked if we could do some posting and take a walk through his audio chain.
Here is where we start.
Current acoustic treatments, other than furnishings and jute rugs:
Cathedral panels in upper and some lower corners throughout the room to control bass
2' x 4' x 2" acoustic absorbent panel over TV
3 deco tune floor standers (not sure where to place them -- I originally bought them to replace the towel on the equipment rack and the 2 diffusion panels on L/R walls, but they don't seem to sound good in those places).
Equipment:
CEC TL51XR cd player
Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE preamp
Wyred 4 Sound SX-500 amps
ATC SCM 12 monitors on Skylan 24" stands filled with sand and kitty litter per manufacturer recommendation
Synergistic Research XLR cables and speaker cable
Mojo Audio power cords
PS Audio Quintet power filtration (the amps are plugged into this)
Audio Magic Stealth Mini Power Purifier (the cdp and the preamp are plugged into this)
DIY Ash wood and steel rods rack and Bright Star Audio platforms (containing sand) underneath cdp and preamp
3.25" thick Myrtle wood platforms under amps
Black Diamond Racing Cones #3 under amps and preamp
Marigo Audio Gem feet underneath cdp
Acoustic Revive RR-77 acoustical tweak
"My primary issues are: balance is shifted left, flat soundstage, perceived slight mid/upper glare and grain. The former is the worst offender, the latter I can live with if need be, it could be due to the speakers."
