I would like to welcome Fabsound1 to TuneLand.

I'm having a bit of a problem loading his pics but wanted to get the thread started.

Here is the youtube  of the room.

Hi Fabsound1

A couple of questions.

1) are you listening from your bed or your chair?

oops, answered my own question by going back a viewing the video again

2) what are the walls made out of?

BTW love Johnny Cash

Yes, from the bed. The walls are made of some kind of stone. The building is from the 1910s.

I have an affection for great voices from this period when songs could go deep into archaic stories of love and death, good and evil. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, but also Hank Williams and Merle Haggard...

Hi Fabsound1

There are two things that I see right off the batt that I would think about. One is tuning the upper corners and midseams, a TunePak or PZC's or the new RTD2 squares would do this.

Next raising the speakers even higher than they are to get more in the acousical part of the room that isn't being absorbed by the bed.

The 2nd might sound a hair out of balance until the upper part of the room is RoomTuned, but once the acoustics are started this would be a good move.

What's the rest of the system?

Excellent suggestions. Thank you! Where would you place the TunePak/PZC/RTD2? And would you recommend one over the others?

The rest of the system:
A 300B single ended tube amp (also Audio Note)
The source is lacking behind (CD and DAC), so an upgrade is due. The plan is an Audio Note Dac 1.1 mkii signature

Hi Fab

If you own the house and/or are able to put holes in the walls I would go with the PZC 1st choice once you learned the placement. However because of the construction this might be a case where you and us should do some listening and placement experiments. For this reason I would get a TunePak + 2 extra EchoTunes.

The New TunePak has 4 CornerTunes, 4 RTXLT's and 2 EchoTunes. So I would have Harold get you 4, 4 and 4. Your also going to need to find what works the best for your walls as far as sticking to them cause the pins (that come with) will probably not hold.

The first placement I would try would be the standard placement.

Hi Michael,

a Tunepak strikes me as an ideal solution at this moment because of the possible to experiment with placement. Actually, I didn't know about these "pillows" and can't wait to try them. I will get in touch with Harold.

THANK YOU!
